Introduction to DEI for Everyone

A highly interactive course that aims to provide participants with mid-level understanding of DEI

Many people admit to feeling anxious about navigating the subject of Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion or DEI. That’s because it’s a highly emotive topic and there can be a feeling of embarrassment or shame when people get it wrong.

This course is delivered in the right environment and tone to enable learners to start wherever they are starting from and to progress their knowledge and understanding without feeling judged.

It covers foundational concepts of DEI, provides wrap-around historical and social contexts of inequality, explains the role of the law and its relevance in different regions, and zones in on the role of individuals in turning negative conduct into positive lasting habits!

Throughout the course, learners will be guided and supported by a DEI specialist to feel confident about receiving the right signposting whenever they feel stuck.

Learners can engage and interact with their cohort through a Community Box, which makes Titese online courses a shared learning experience rather than an individual journey (but with the flexibility of online courses). This makes DEI learning more fun and meaningful!

By completing the course, learners will boost their awareness and confidence of how inequality can impact anyone and how everyone has a role to play in eliminating unwanted and unfair conduct from the workplace to develop more inclusive cultures.

Dumi Senda or Coach Dumi is the Founder and CEO of Titese. Known as “The Rags to Impact Coach”, Dumi is widely recognised for his inspirational journey of going from a life of low prospects in his home country Zimbabwe, working as a laborer for 10 years in the UK, to becoming an Oxford University graduate and award-winning Global Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) expert. He’s currently the Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Portfolio Lead for BBC England with a remit transcending 6 super regions of over 3000 staff and 45+ million audiences across TV, radio and online platforms.

Dumi was the first-ever winner of the “Future of Leadership” DEI Award in South Africa, a global award which recognises individuals who’ve made a significant contribution towards the development of people and organisations in their sector. He’s also been invited to the UK Prime Minister’s official residence, 10 Downing Street. in recognition of his impact in transforming workplaces through empowering underrepresented employee groups to progress and prosper.

He has extensive experience in delivering high-impact DEI projects, which range from Diagnostics, Strategy Development & Implementation, to Coaching and Training. He’s highly adept at working across multiple sectors and cultural divides and has a special ability to create a safe space that brings people along on a journey of shared DEI ownership, including broaching uncomfortable conversations.

Dumi’s lived experience has fuelled his passion to empower others who may doubt their own potential to succeed against the odds. Realising that his passion for equality alone would not take him far, he took himself back to university at the age of 33 and studied with people 10 years younger than him. Despite becoming a new father at the beginning of his academic journey, Dumi worked hard, graduated top of his department, and received two “Dean’s Special Awards” from Leeds Beckett University before being accepted into Oxford for MSc studies.

The experience cultivated his commitment to empower others through sharing his story and his personal mantra “Never let your background keep you in the background”.
